In Montenegro, it is crucial to sustain the momentum of reforms and foster open political dialogue. This approach will allow the nation, with the assistance of European partners, to meet all obligations and capitalize on the historic opportunity for full membership in the European Union (EU).

This assessment followed a meeting between Filip Ivanović, Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro for Foreign and European Affairs, and Thomas Weiz, a Member of the European Parliament.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister’s office, Ivanović and Weiz reviewed the progress made thus far in the EU accession process and discussed forthcoming actions that will aid in concluding remaining negotiation chapters, thereby enhancing Montenegro’s overall European outlook.

Weiz, who closely monitors political developments and reform efforts in Montenegro, reaffirmed his support for the Montenegrin institutions aimed at maintaining a stable and credible path toward European integration.

“Weiz highlighted Montenegro’s advancements in the EU accession process and underlined the significance of persistence and dedication to European values that Montenegro has consistently shown,” the statement noted.

It was reported that Weiz emphasized the European Parliament’s role as a steadfast ally in this process.

The participants concurred on the necessity to sustain momentum and engage in open political dialogue to ensure that Montenegro, with the backing of its European partners, can meet all obligations and embrace the historic opportunity for full EU membership.
