Innovations are pivotal in enhancing maritime connectivity, particularly for smaller coastal nations like Montenegro, stated Minister of Maritime Affairs Filip Radulović.

During his address at the esteemed Global Transport Connectivity Forum 2025 in Istanbul, Radulović spoke on the panel titled “Maritime Connectivity for Island and Coastal States: Shared Opportunities, Special Challenges.” He underscored that smart digital solutions and advanced technologies present new possibilities for improving efficiency, safety, and environmental responsibilities in maritime transport.

“With strategic investments and the modernization of critical infrastructure, Montenegro has the potential to set an example of resilience and innovation in the region. Our endeavors are concentrated on fortifying ports and maritime infrastructure to effectively tackle modern challenges—from climate change to geopolitical shifts,” Radulović emphasized.

He placed particular focus on regional cooperation, highlighting the necessity for collective action in the Adriatic and Mediterranean regions.

“I am convinced there is significant potential for deeper collaboration among Balkan nations through joint initiatives, knowledge exchange, and innovation, especially in marine protection and sustainable development,” Radulović remarked.

He also pointed out the crucial role of public-private partnerships in advancing the sector, reiterating that robust and strategically focused state leadership is essential for long-term stability and the safeguarding of national interests.

“Montenegro is optimistic about the future of its maritime sector. Through vision, collaboration, and innovation, we are forging a sustainable and closely connected region,” Radulović concluded.
