Bjelopoljac Vehbo Čoković reported to the authorities that there was a plot to assassinate him for a sum of five thousand euros while he serves his sentence at the Bijelo Polje prison, according to reliable sources familiar with the investigation, as revealed by “Vijesti”.
It is reported that he named the individuals he suspected to investigators, who subsequently interrogated them.
The Basic State Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to “Vijesti” that the police from the Bijelo Polje Security Department notified the on-duty state prosecutor about Čoković’s report while he is incarcerated.
“Upon the instruction of the acting state prosecutor, officers from the Bijelo Polje Police Directorate gathered information from four individuals and ordered further evidence collection and actions as per their authority,” stated the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office.
They noted that once evidence is gathered, the prosecutor will determine whether any actions by specific individuals amount to a criminal offense or misdemeanor.
Čoković is undergoing retrial at the Higher Court in Bijelo Polje for the offense of unauthorized production, possession, and distribution of narcotic substances.
The owner of the “Herc” nightclub is accused of unlawfully selling “xalol” tablets to a minor from June 20 to 24, 2021.
As per the indictment, he allegedly sold the minor three “Xalol” tablets, each containing 15 tablets, pricing one at eight euros and the other two at an undisclosed amount.
The drugs were discovered by police during an investigation on April 24, 2021, at the residence of Ramiz Čoković, the defendant’s brother, where AV was residing, and they were remnants of the tablets sold.
Vehbo Čoković was arrested in May 2022 after the Bijelo Polje Higher Prosecutor’s Office ordered the exhumation of a woman’s body from Cetinje, who passed away after eight months of treatment due to suspected drug overdose.
He is currently serving a four-month prison sentence following a Basic Court ruling from September of the previous year for “unauthorized engagement in commercial banking, stock exchange, and insurance activities”.
He was charged with conducting catering operations at the “Herc” nightclub, which was part of a company that had been dissolved from the business registry since November 13, 2019, in Bijelo Polje, fully aware that his actions were illegal and without registration:
“This was confirmed by a tourism inspector’s review, which found guests being served at the venue, who received fiscal invoices for the services rendered. In addition to the primary penalty, the ruling also imposed a fine of 1,200 euros as a secondary punishment, which is now finalized.”
