Young Water Polo Players Compete for Fifth Place in Manisa, Challenged by the Sons of Legends
The Montenegro cadet water polo team is set to compete for the fifth position at the European Championship in Manisa, Turkey.
After a loss to Serbia in the quarter-finals, our team bounced back with a strong performance against the Netherlands, winning 21:11 in the first of two matches for placement from 5th to 8th.
Montenegro showed dominance throughout the game, leading by four goals after the first quarter, increasing it to seven by half-time, and finishing the third period with a score of 18:8 under the leadership of coach Miodrag Mirović.
Notably, the sons of legendary players Nikola Janović and Vladimir Gojković—Srđan and Strahinj—stood out, each scoring seven goals against their opponents.
Ivan Marković contributed three goals, while Tadija Matijašević, Danilo Stupar, Nikola Petrović, and Tim Perov also added to the scoreline.
The final match of the tournament is against Italy on Monday at 16:30.
