The Bologna football club management plans to present coach Vincenzo Italiano with a new contract amidst rumors of interest from Milan, as reported by Italian media today.
The coach’s representatives are set to meet with management today to discuss the proposal for continued collaboration.
The management reportedly aims to retain the 47-year-old coach until 2028.
He will evaluate the offer, and according to reports, anticipates a salary increase along with assurances that any players departing the club this summer will be adequately substituted.
Previously, the Italian head coach succeeded Thiago Motta last summer, initially signing a contract that extends to 2026.
Milan’s interest has been noted, and Corriere dello Sport indicates that Roma is also considering him.
Milan is nearing a deal to appoint Iglio Tare as their new sporting director, who is expected to take a pivotal role in the head coach appointment, making it less likely for Maurizio Sarri to be chosen due to reported tensions with Tare.
Tare has identified Vincenzo Italiano as the top candidate for the coaching position.
In his inaugural season with Bologna, Italiano led the team to victory in the Coppa Italia last week, marking the club’s first trophy in 51 years and the third Cup in their history.
Bologna triumphed over Milan with a 1-0 score in the final.
