The new season for Primorac kicks off tomorrow (Thursday) in Šumadija. The water polo team from the former European champion in Kragujevac will strive to qualify for the Champions League. However, it’s more likely that the upcoming matches at the SPD “Radnički” swimming pool will serve as preparation for the Eurocup.
This outlook is influenced by the names of their rivals—Breša, Radnički, Duisburg, and Noizi l Sek—as well as the fact that only the tournament winner will earn a spot among the LEN elite. Consequently, all other competing teams will shift focus to the Eurocup.
The opening match of the qualification tournament for the Champions League features the giants from Kotor facing off against the hosts, Radnički, at 20:00.
Zoran Maslovar, the new coach of Primorje, has brought a roster of 15 players to Serbia, including key additions like Draško Brguljan, the former captain of Montenegro, and Serbian center Nemanja Vico.
Joining them to represent Primorje are Aleksandro Kralj, Nikola Marković, Marko Gopčević, Petar Ćetković, Balša Vučković, Marko Mršić, Đorđije Stanojević, Srđan Janović, Tim Perov, Angus Lambi, Fleming Kastrop, Dragoljub Ćetković, and Pavle Krivokapić.
Meanwhile, the other local team, Jadran from Herceg Novi, has secured a place in the Champions League group stage, where they will compete against Ferencvaroš, Jadran from Split, and the winner of another qualification group including Hanover, Barcelona, Crvena zvezda, Honved, and Apollon.
