If they think it’s time to part ways I’ll accept that, but I want to bring glory back to this club

“If They Believe It’s Time to Move On, I’ll Accept It, but I’m Committed to Restoring Glory to This Club”

Manchester United’s captain, Bruno Fernandes, has expressed his willingness to leave the club if management believes that parting ways is necessary to facilitate the club’s rebuilding process.

United’s head coach, Ruben Amorim, has also stated he would resign without severance if the club no longer saw a future for him.

Fernandes has mentioned that he would be open to moving on if it means helping United reclaim its competitiveness on a European level.

“I’ve always been straightforward. I’ve said I will be here until the club decides it’s time for me to leave. I aspire to achieve more and help bring the club back to its glorious days. But if the club feels it’s time for me to go, whether for financial reasons or any other motivation, then I accept that,” stated the 30-year-old Portugal international.

Even though Fernandes has been one of United’s standout performers this season, he was unable to influence the outcome in the Europa League final held at San Mames stadium in Bilbao, where United lost 0-1 to Tottenham.

“Above all, we aimed to win this final. Today is a very disappointing day, as we accomplished a lot in this competition. However, today was crucial— the most significant day of the entire season. We could have made history in the Europa League, but we fell short. Football can be unforgiving, and this time we faced defeat,” Fernandes remarked.

Having scored 98 goals for United since joining in January 2020, Fernandes has backed his compatriot and manager, Ruben Amorim, despite the lack of satisfactory results since his appointment in November.

“In my view, he remains the right person for this position,” Fernandes stated.

Since taking charge, Amorim has led Manchester United to only six Premier League victories, and they currently sit in 16th place, potentially marking the club’s worst season since their relegation in 1974.
