Under the auspices of President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, the First National Festival of Interculture (NFI) is set to officially commence on Monday, July 7, at Macan Poljana in Žabljak.

The festival is being organized by IOV Montenegro – International Organization of Folklore Arts, alongside the Žabljak Cultural Center and the Municipality of Žabljak, in collaboration with the Association of Folklore Ensembles of Montenegro (UFACG).

According to the announcement from the Office of the President, in celebration of July 13th – Montenegro’s Statehood Day, this new festival holds significant cultural importance in our efforts to preserve and promote the nation’s rich heritage.

“Starting tomorrow, Žabljak will transform into a hub of authentic cultural richness – a gathering point for the creators and guardians of Montenegro’s intangible heritage. Through music, dance, and traditional costumes showcased by folklore ensembles from across the nation, the festival aims to highlight the diversity and depth of Montenegrin identity. Notably, this event takes place in the area where the concept of Montenegro as an ecological state originated. Attendees will enjoy a genuine experience in a natural setting, celebrating decades of creativity, unity, and pride through traditional dances and songs, all while upholding principles of sustainability and environmental preservation,” it was stated.
