Montenegro vs. Hungary: Matović Emphasizes Need for Strength and Agility in Second Round
The Montenegrin men’s handball team is set to face Hungary in the fourth round of the European Championship qualifiers this Sunday in Tatabanja.
In their previous encounter on Wednesday at the “MTEL” Morača Hall, Hungary triumphed 29:26, maintaining a perfect record in the qualifying phase thus far.
Montenegro’s handball squad experienced their first loss after securing victories against Finland and Slovakia.
The match in Tatabanja is scheduled to begin at 5:30 PM.
“Hungarian defenders are quite formidable; if we allow them into the nine-meter box, they won’t hesitate to take their shot. We need to be a bit tougher and more aggressive, ensuring that they second-guess their attacks,” expressed goalkeeper Nikola Matović.
Hungary demonstrated their superiority in Podgorica.
“We encountered difficulties when we were passive and failed to push the fast center. The Hungarian central block is exceptional, with towering players making one-on-one challenges tough. Their goalkeeper and block have excellent synergy, leading to many of our forced shots either missing the net or being saved, so in the upcoming match, we need to expand our attack, setting up pivots when Fazekaš and Leka are unable to substitute effectively,” Matović added.
