The Mornar basketball team played their most recent match in the AdmiralBet ABA League on February 8th, and now, 20 days later, they face another critical game that they cannot afford to lose.

Spartak will visit Bar on Friday at 19:00, and a 14th consecutive defeat, marking their 20th overall, would further complicate their fight for survival in the league.

“We’ve had a chance to rest, although the first part of the season hasn’t been exhausting based on our results. There’s no going back now; every game from here on out is crucial, and we’re fully aware of that. I just ask the players to give their all, and let’s see if that effort will be enough to secure our goal of surviving in the ABA League,” said coach Mihailo Pavićević.

Though Spartak is a newcomer to the ABA League, their roster features many experienced players from regional competitions, including Montenegrin international Danilo Nikolić, Nemanja Gordić, Matej Rudan, and Marko Tejić.

The Subotica team is coached by former Budućnost coach Vlade Jovanović.

“We face a very tough match ahead of us. Spartak boasts a lineup of seasoned and quality players, many of whom have played in the ABA League and across Europe for years. We’ll do our best to prepare thoroughly and capitalize on any weaknesses the opponent may have,” Pavićević remarked, acknowledging that his team lost point guard Ilija Đoković during the break.

Mornar currently sits at the bottom of the standings with a dismal record of 1-19, while Cibona, with two more wins, is currently in the play-off zone for survival.
