67 Drivers Taken into Custody Over the Weekend
Over the weekend, 67 drivers were apprehended in Montenegro for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, alongside other serious infractions of the Road Traffic Safety Law, according to an announcement from the Police Directorate.
From Friday through Sunday, police reported a total of 32 traffic accidents on Montenegrin roads, resulting in six individuals sustaining serious injuries and 13 experiencing minor injuries.
The report further indicated that traffic police issued 185 misdemeanor citations, handed out 1,444 misdemeanor warrants, and temporarily seized 29 pairs of license plates, along with removing the same number of vehicles from the roads.
“Of the 67 arrests, 27 drivers were taken into custody for driving under the influence of alcohol with a concentration exceeding one gram per kilogram or for refusing to undergo a breathalyzer test,” the statement noted.
Additionally, 29 drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of drugs or other psychoactive substances, or for refusing to be tested, while 11 faced charges for other significant violations under the Road Traffic Safety Act.
“Among those arrested, 22 were in Podgorica, eight in Nikšić, and seven in Danilovgrad,” the police confirmed.
