All opponents warrant respect – this is the sentiment shared by head coach of the women’s handball team, Suzana Lazović, following the draw for the European Championship qualifications.
The “Lionesses” find themselves in Group 4 alongside Iceland, Portugal, and the Faroe Islands.
“Every national team deserves respect. In the last European Championship, Croatia drew against the Faroe Islands, Iceland managed to defeat Ukraine, and they were only a couple of goals behind the Netherlands. Portugal faced a tough challenge against France, Poland, and Spain at the last European Championship, which compelled them to prepare thoroughly,” stated Suzana Lazović.
Montenegro is set to play in the World Cup play-offs in April, going up against Portugal.
“I am confident that our players will first ensure they recover well and be in peak condition for all matches. That doubleheader in April is our primary focus; only after that can we gear up for the European Championship qualifiers. However, I believe we will continue to excel in major competitions and achieve our goals through effort,” emphasized Lazović.
