February 10th marked an important milestone for the Budućnost Voli basketball team, as their impressive performance in Belgrade—this season’s second—brought them closer to securing the top spot at the end of the regular season in the AdmiralBet ABA League.

In the “Aleksandar Nikolić” hall, they triumphed over Red Star after an intense overtime, setting the stage for a promising match on March 1st as the Podgorica team looks to extend their winning streak.

The “Blues” are currently enjoying an 11-game winning streak in the regional league, and on Saturday at 7 PM, they will face Cedevita Olimpija at the “MTEL Morača Hall”—a long-standing rival and a team well-coached this season by Montenegrin Zvezdan Mitrović.

The “Dragons” present a significant challenge for Andrej Žakelj’s squad, but such encounters appear to energize McKinley Wright and his teammates.

“Cedevita Olimpija is in good form. They are playing effectively, and I anticipate a solid game. We’ll see how we perform after the break; we had two days to prepare, and it will definitely be a different matchup than those before the break,” Žakelj commented.

Currently, the Slovenian team ranks fifth in the ABA League with 12 wins out of 20 games. Among their eight losses this season is one against Budućnost, who decisively won in Ljubljana during the sixth round (91:71).

“Cedevita Olimpija is a formidable team with a strong defensive setup, and we must be ready for that. Offensively, they employ plenty of movement and shooting; we need to remain vigilant and aim to kick off the final segment of the season with a victory,” Žakelj emphasized.

After 20 rounds, Budućnost shares the top position with Partizan, holding a record of 18 wins and 2 losses.
