Epilogue of the Intense Rudar Saga
The handball referee duo from Cetinje, Bogdan Kaluđerović and Ivan Vujačić, will not officiate in the upcoming three rounds of the Montenegrin championship. Additionally, delegate Mladen Beharević, also from the capital, has been penalized.
This decision came after the Handball Referees’ Association carried out a thorough evaluation of the match in the 13th round of the SBBet First Men’s League, featuring Rudar and Lovćen.
Lovćen triumphed over Rudar away with a score of 31:30, a result which eliminated the northern team from the title contention. Following this, the Pljevlja club released a statement expressing their discontent with the officiating and delegation, all hailing from Cetinje.
“After a comprehensive review of the match footage, the Commission has determined that the referee pair Bogdan Kaluđerović and Ivan Vujačić will not be assigned to the next three championship rounds due to a score of 65 points given by the Commission,” stated the RSCG.
Furthermore, they clarified the sanctions imposed on match delegate Mladen Beharević.
“He received a warning and was awarded five negative points for adjusting his evaluation by four points,” read the statement.
The RSCG indicated that the Commission also reached a resolution urging all controllers and delegates to provide detailed descriptions of all situations and incidents occurring on the field in their reports.
“This is especially relevant for incidents not documented in the official scoresheet (such as overlooked red or blue cards, match interruptions, etc.). In the coming period, the Commission will intensify its analysis of a larger number of matches to enhance the quality of officiating and ensure the integrity of the competition. The Handball Federation of Montenegro remains committed to improving referee quality and enhancing transparency in competitions under its governance,” concluded the RSCG.
With five rounds left, Lovćen’s only contender for the domestic championship title will be Budućnost, who are just two points behind. The two teams are set to clash on April 12 in Podgorica, likely determining the champion.
