Mornar Comes Close, But Baran Faces Another Disappointing Defeat
For an extended period, it appeared that Mornar’s basketball players might finally break their lengthy losing streak. However, Bar lacks a winning mentality, and the streak persists—having started in mid-November, it shows no signs of ending soon.
Mihailo Pavićević’s squad has now stumbled against Spartak, losing 76:66 at “Topolica.” This marks Mornar’s 20th defeat in 21 games in the AdmiralBet ABA League, with 14 losses in a row.
This game was atypical for our team, as they held the lead for much of the match against the Subotica team.
In the second quarter, they had a 13-point advantage (36:23), only to see their opponents stage a 19:0 run and briefly regain a five-point lead.
Nevertheless, everything fell apart at the beginning of the final quarter when Spartak used their experience and skill to establish a lead that Mornar could not overcome.
Lovre Runjić was the standout player for Mornar with 14 points, while Lovro Buljević and Donald Pember each added 12 points, and Jamari Smith scored 10.
The match’s top performer was Luka Cerovina, who tallied 28 points (7 of 6 from three-point range), and Montenegrin player Danilo Nikolić scored three points for Spartak.
Consequently, Mornar is left with just one win and sits at the bottom of the ABA League standings.
