Barcelona has been ready to pop the champagne since Saturday following their win in “el clasico.” The celebration was anticipated tonight with the glasses prepared, but the festivities have been postponed until at least tomorrow.
Real Madrid faced Mallorca, trailing 1-0 at halftime and leveling the score at 1-1 as stoppage time approached. The Catalans were poised to celebrate the title, waiting for a slip-up, but in the 95th minute, the “royal club” scored to clinch a 2-1 victory.
Barcelona is set to take on city rivals Espanyol tomorrow, and a win would secure the title with two matches remaining.
Martin Valjent opened the scoring for Mallorca in the 11th minute, and Kylian Mbappe equalized for Real Madrid in the 68th minute.
The goal that secured three points for Real Madrid and delayed Barcelona’s celebration came from substitute Jakob Ramon in the fifth minute of stoppage time in the second half.
