Ilya Topuria delivered on his promise by knocking out Charles Oliveira in the first round at UFC 317 in Las Vegas. This marks his 17th win, maintaining an unblemished record in UFC fights.
He has claimed the lightweight title after previously relinquishing the light lightweight title that he had won and defended.
“I kept my word, and now you can see that what I say isn’t just talk. First and foremost, I thank God for everything. Everything I have is because of Him. I’ve mentioned before that I represent a new generation of MMA fighters. This is a new era. I executed our plan perfectly – a straight, followed by a right hand, and then a left hook. And boom!” Topuria expressed.
Paddy Pimbleton then entered the octagon to confront Topuria, indicating that he felt Topuria was not a significant threat.
“I’m going to take him down. I’ve already defeated Alex Volkanovski, Max Holloway, and now Oliveira. Who else can claim that? I want to knock out Pimbleton, but I want that match in Spain,” Topuria stated.
