Leicester City Football Club has confirmed that their iconic player, Jamie Vardy, will play his final match for the team this Sunday against Ipswich.
The match will take place at King Power Stadium at 4 PM, marking the 37th round of the Premier League.
Although Leicester will have one more match away at Bournemouth on May 25th, Vardy’s farewell will occur against Ipswich, where he is set to reach the milestone of his 500th appearance for the club while aiming to score his 200th goal.
Post-match, Leicester will honor their “greatest player ever” with a special celebration.
Having announced his departure from the club last month, Vardy is not retiring from football, but he has yet to reveal where he will continue his career.
“Football is unpredictable; anything can happen. I will keep playing until my body tells me to stop. I feel great, and I’m still enjoying the game I’ve loved since childhood,” Vardy shared with Sky Sports.
The English forward was pivotal in Leicester’s Premier League title win during the 2015/16 season, where he was also named the league’s best player. This season, he has netted nine goals in 35 appearances.
Leicester has unfortunately been relegated from the Premier League and will compete in the English Championship next season.
