Jamal’s Brilliance and Fermin’s Finish Secure Barcelona’s 28th Title
Barcelona celebrated the season with nearly 100 goals scored, clinching their 28th title in club history with two rounds remaining.
The “Blaugrana” settled all doubts after securing a victory against city rivals Espanyol (2:0), just five days following their triumph over another major rival—Real Madrid.
The championship race concluded thanks to the brilliance of Lamine Jamal, who netted only his eighth goal in La Liga this season, but it was undoubtedly one of the most stunning goals of the tournament.
Prior to that moment, both teams could have gained the upper hand; Espanyol had a significant opportunity to postpone their rival’s celebration for at least a few days, but they aimed to avoid a loss. The chance faded when defender Leandro Cabrera was sent off after striking Jamal in the stomach with ten minutes remaining.
He was penalized in referee compensation with a final score set by Fermin Lopes following a pass from Jamal, allowing Barcelona to celebrate their title victory for the second time in three years against Espanyol on their home ground.
This season, Barça has also secured the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup alongside La Liga, although they faced elimination in the Champions League semi-finals by Inter just eight days ago…
Hansi Flick’s squad will next host Villarreal and will tackle Athletic Bilbao in their final match.
Meanwhile, Atletico triumphed over Getafe away (2:0), securing a Champions League spot.
