Tonight, We Celebrate Freedom of Thought, Expression, and Play
The Montenegrin National Theatre (CNP) has announced its performance of “Mr. Glembay” tonight at the National Theatre in Belgrade, advocating for freedom of thought, expression, and dance, following the expulsion of the play’s director from Serbia.
“We dance tonight for freedom of thought, freedom of speech, and freedom of dance. The Montenegrin National Theatre is dedicated to fostering regional cooperation and cultural exchange, and will persist in executing its programming with professionalism and adherence to good theatrical practices,” they shared via Facebook.
Earlier today, Vijesti reported that Montenegrin director Danilo Marunović was released from the Serbian Security Information Agency (BIA) after being questioned, and instructed to leave Serbia without delay.
Additional sources informed Vijesti that BIA agents would be accompanying Marunović to the border with Montenegro.
This morning, around nine o’clock, Marunović was taken into custody for an informational interview at the BIA office in Belgrade.
According to sources within theater circles, BIA agents entered Marunović’s hotel room, where he was located for tonight’s guest performance of “Gospoda Glembajevi,” produced by the Montenegrin National Theatre (CNP), at the National Theatre in Belgrade.
It has also been reported that Marunović entered Serbia without issues at the border alongside his father, actor Slobodan Marunović.
