NATO’s headquarters in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has declared that it will protect peace in BiH and prevent any security vacuum from emerging in the country.
“The threats of secession, political conflicts, and nationalist movements are jeopardizing the hard-fought stability of this nation. These elements are both destabilizing and perilous,” stated NATO’s offices in BiH in a comment to the Sarajevo-based portal Klix, in reference to Republika Srpska (RS) President Milorad Dodik’s declaration of potential “radical decisions” if found guilty by the Court of BiH for not adhering to the High Representative’s directives.
NATO emphasized the importance of all political leaders in BiH making a sincere effort to enact reforms for the welfare of all citizens, as well as aiding in reconciliation, enduring peace, and fostering good neighborly ties.
“This is essential not only for the security of BiH but also for regional stability,” they highlighted, reaffirming their support for BiH’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, signifying its importance for the region, Europe, and NATO.
NATO reiterated its dedication to its partnership with BiH and its backing of the EUFOR mission in the country.
The first-instance ruling against Dodik and the acting director of the Official Gazette of the Republic of Srpska, Miloš Lukić, is scheduled for February 26th.
