Golubović’s Time on Jahorina and Sky Messages Under SDT Investigation

Authorities are investigating the possibility that one of the thirty encrypted phones seized in early 2021 from a luxury hotel in Jahorina was owned by a recently apprehended security guard. Duško Golubović, according to multiple sources cited by Vijesti.

Furthermore, it is believed that Golubović, a former operative of the National Security Agency (ANB) and the Police Directorate, had interactions with several individuals linked to the regional criminal underworld during his stay at the hotel.

Currently, Golubović is under scrutiny from a special prosecutor. Tanjo Čolan Deretić has referred to claims of him using the Sky app as unfounded.

“In Montenegro, owning such a device is not against the law. However, it raises suspicions,” remarked one source to “Vijesti.”

Investigators have confirmed that Golubović resided at the aforementioned hotel in January 2021, where some known criminals from the former Yugoslavia were also present, based on records from the once-protected Sky application.

Evidence also points to communication involving a member of the Škalja clan, currently residing in Serbia, and the then Member of Parliament for New Serbian Democracy, who is now under investigation, Milo Božović.

Božović has been detained in Spuž Remand Prison for two years, accused of being part of a criminal group responsible for smuggling cocaine from South America to Europe and Australia.

On January 21, 2021, a Škaljarac, communicating under the pseudonym YFICVI, relayed to Božović that “everyone is buzzing that we are here”…

He went on to mention Golubović, indicating that he was staying at the same hotel:

“Golubović is at the hotel. I can’t believe it. He checked on me at the pool yesterday. He approached me, asking how I was. I replied, fine, how about you? Our people at the pool are in disbelief,” he told Božović.

“Vijesti” has learned that prosecutors are particularly interested in the time frame of Golubović’s stay in Jahorina.

ARREST

On May 9th, at the direction of the Special State Prosecutor’s Office, this retired secret and public police operative was taken into custody.

Special prosecutors suspect that he has accumulated valuable assets in cash and real estate both in Montenegro and internationally through money laundering linked to cigarette smuggling.

Golubović’s attorney, Velibor Marković, previously informed “Vijesti” that the documents from the Police Directorate and the Prosecutor’s Office “arbitrarily claim this is cigarette smuggling without any essential elements of the crime.”

On the day of Golubović’s arrest, the Special State Prosecutor’s Office requested a freeze on valuable properties belonging to him and his family across several Montenegrin cities.

This action was taken as special prosecutors were conducting both a criminal and a financial investigation against Golubović for alleged money laundering activities.

INQUEST

According to sources from “Vijesti”, an extensive investigation by the SDT and the Special Police Department has yielded substantial evidence related to suspicious cash transactions that facilitated the purchase of luxurious properties in Montenegro, including upscale coastal areas, as well as properties abroad.

Investigators also traced bank accounts suspected of facilitating these dubious financial operations. Unofficial reports indicate that foreign partners assisted Montenegrin authorities in this inquiry.

Some evidence was obtained from correspondence in the now-compromised Sky application.

Reports suggest that the investigation against the retired secret and public police operative may soon expand…

In a parallel investigation involving the arrested security guard for money laundering, Special Police Department officials recently confiscated documentation from the Podgorica travel agency “Grand,” owned by Happy Kankaras, who has ties to Prime Minister Milojko Spajić and his Europe Now Movement (PES).

Sources from the political and security sectors have indicated that investigators are probing Golubović’s travel activities, as well as the agency’s records regarding the rental of a property from a former employee of the National Security Agency and the Police Directorate.

Kankaraš stated to “Vijesti” that they had submitted the necessary documentation regarding tourist services to the SPO, but did not address inquiries about the house rental agreement.

Golubović will remain in the Spuž Remand Prison for 30 days, as an investigating judge from the Higher Court in Podgorica ordered his detention at the request of the SDT. Concerns regarding the risk of flight and potential witness interference contributed to this decision.

The SDT accuses the former secret agent of laundering illicit cash and investing in real estate in Montenegro and beyond.

According to prior reports from “Vijesti,” the investigation into the retired secret police operative is anticipated to broaden…
