Pioneers Kick Off Balkan Championship with Win
The Montenegrin women’s volleyball team made a strong start in the Balkan Championship held in Pljevlja with a convincing victory.
Our team triumphed over North Macedonia with a score of 3:0 (25:11, 25:14, 25:23).
Under the guidance of coach Petar Koković, the team kicked off the tournament on a high note for the home audience, propelled by a remarkable series of serves from captain Nađa Peković, who helped establish a 9:0 lead, signaling a dominant performance.
The match experienced a touch of tension during the third set, but Montenegro managed to rally and secure the win in a dramatic finish.
Every player contributed with points, notably Elena Jovanović with seven, followed by Mia Pođanin with six, and both Sofija Duletić and Klara Đukić adding five each.
Earlier in the day, the Bulgarian national team also earned a 3:1 victory over Greece.
Looking ahead, two more matches are on the schedule for Friday – Turkey will face North Macedonia at 15:30, followed by Montenegro competing against Greece at 18:00.
