The European water polo championship, originally scheduled to take place in Israel last January, has been postponed due to the ongoing conflict in the region.
This announcement was made by the European Swimming Federation (LEN).
According to the press release, it was concluded that hosting the European Championship in Netanya, as initially planned, is not feasible.
Recently, there has been speculation regarding the possibility of relocating the continental championship to Budapest…
“In light of the recent terrorist attacks in Israel and following extensive discussions between LEN and the Israel Water Polo Federation, both organizations have agreed that it will not be possible to hold the European Championships in Netanya,” stated LEN.
LEN also mentioned that they are currently considering various options concerning the appropriate qualification process for the upcoming World Aquatics Championships in Doha, scheduled for February 2024.
