Montenegro is set to face Finland on Thursday at 17:30 PM in Vantaa, marking their first match point for qualification for the European Handball Championship.
With a victory against Finland, the “Lions” will secure their seventh consecutive European Championship and their eighth overall since regaining independence.
“We have high hopes that a win will mathematically secure our spot in the European Championship. It’s well-known that this is our target, and we expect to affirm the work we’ve put in so far. Finland is a different team, and so are we; we don’t come with just two goalkeepers. We anticipate a challenging and unpredictable game, but of course, we are aiming for victory,” stated pivot Miodrag Ćorsović.
Previously, Montenegro edged out Finland at home by a narrow margin, and given the sold-out venue in Vantaa, a significant challenge awaits Didija Dinar’s squad in the suburbs of Helsinki.
“We face a crucial match against Finland, a team that’s always tough to beat. Although we have some player shortages, I believe we can secure the two points that are vital for our qualification to the European Championship. Finland will be a different team compared to the one we faced in Podgorica. The outcome will likely remain uncertain until the very end, but we are optimistic about winning,” said Luka Radović, the right winger for the “reds”.
