The Mornar basketball team has been facing continuous finals for months, suffering defeats in each, yet they still have an opportunity to battle for survival in the AdmiralBet ABA League.
The upcoming match is crucial as the Barane will be up against a direct rival for playoff contention—visiting Cibona (tonight at 7 PM), who have recorded two more wins after 21 rounds.
This season, “Cibosi” are the only team to have tasted defeat at the hands of Mihaila Pavićević in the regional league (early November last year), following which they have experienced 14 losses and have remained at the bottom of the standings…
– This is a decisive match for both teams. The team that displays calmness, focus, combativeness, and aggression will come out on top – stated Pavićević.
He hopes Mornar will deliver a strong performance for the entire 40 minutes.
– Every away fixture in the ABA League presents challenges, and we are acutely aware of what’s at stake. Despite some personnel issues—details I prefer not to disclose, as those training are our strongest players—I hope we can give our utmost, and if we do, a favorable outcome is possible. These games are tough; I don’t engage in predictions, but we all recognize the significance of a victory for us and for Cibona – emphasized Pavićević.
Mornar suffered a defeat to Spartak last week at “Topolica”.
– I am pleased that we showcased a solid team effort after some time, although the result was not what we expected. Nonetheless, that performance instills hope that we can push through this crucial part of the season – added Pavićević.
Playmaker Roko Rogić has recently joined Mornar from Cibona.
– If we can replicate our performance from three and a half quarters against Spartak, there is room for optimism – Rogić noted.
