The President of Republika Srpska (RS), Milorad Dodik, announced that he will present the new Constitution of Republika Srpska for public discussion today, which will clearly outline the authentic constitutional provisions of RS.
“This Constitution will not contradict the Constitution of BiH, as RS adheres to the original Dayton Peace Agreement. The public discourse is expected to last 15-20 days,” Dodik stated during the “Special” program on Radio Television RS (RTRS).
He mentioned that the new Constitution will designate Banja Luka as the capital of RS, in place of Sarajevo, as stipulated in the existing entity constitution.
In response to claims from Sarajevo that the recent passage of laws in the RS parliament, which challenge the operations of state judicial bodies and the BiH Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) within RS, signifies a coup d’état, Dodik remarked that from Sarajevo, “I can only salute.”
“Republika Srpska has its own stance and its own direction. If there were a coup d’état, and there isn’t, you can’t strike against something that isn’t real,” he asserted.
He expressed his desire to see SIPA expelled from RS, characterizing the recent arrest of two individuals in Banja Luka, who had threatened Judge Sena Uzunović, who presided over her court case, as “harassment.”
“Our people are being targeted in Sarajevo because of the video post. That will not happen anymore. I will demand the names of those who lack patriotic sentiment. Why are you belittling people?” Dodik stated.
