Montenegrin coach Nebojša Jovović has added another achievement to his record, securing a championship title in Kuwait to complement his earlier titles with Fayseli in Jordan and Short in Iraq.
His Al Kuwait team triumphed 2-1 against Al Arabi in a decisive final match, which effectively determined the championship outcome.
Although a draw would have sufficed for Jovović’s squad, Al Kuwait opted for risk—being down 1-0 at halftime.
In the vibrant atmosphere of the impressive “Sabah al Salem” stadium, the visitors had to adopt an offensive strategy, finding themselves in second place in the standings for the first time this season.
In football, fairness prevails; the team leading the championship since its inception concluded the game effectively in the second half of the final match.
With a player advantage due to the home team being reduced to ten men early in the second half, Jovović’s team made a comeback, scoring twice within just five minutes (64th and 68th).
Alongside Jovović, his assistants Marko Jovanović, Darko Lubarda, and Blažo Igumanović are celebrating this success.
Having already secured the Super Cup this season, Al Kuwait will also have the opportunity to pursue the Cup, facing Al Arabi again in the final.
Over his illustrious career in the Arab football circuit, Jovović also claimed the Tunisian Cup with Sfaxien and celebrated a triple crown in Jordan.
