Gjeloshaj and Szijjarto Unveil New Intergovernmental G2G Agreement on Infrastructure Development

The Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Minister of Economic Development, Nik Gjeloshaj, met earlier today with Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Peter Szijjarto, reaffirming the robust and enduring partnership between their nations.

During the meeting, a variety of topics were addressed, including the advancement of economic collaboration, joint investment initiatives, and Montenegro’s journey toward EU membership. Both parties underscored the significance of a shared commitment to European values and sustainable economic growth.

Deputy Prime Minister Gjeloshaj praised Hungary’s support for Montenegro’s EU integration.

Hungary continues to be one of our closest allies on the European path. We greatly value their political and technical assistance, which aids us in aligning with EU standards and bolstering our institutions, Gjeloshaj noted.

Foreign Minister Szijjarto highlighted the robust bilateral trade, which has achieved record highs, with OTP and 4iG leading in the banking and telecommunications sectors. He reiterated Hungary’s strong backing for Montenegro’s EU accession and welcomed efforts to finalize six chapters by year-end.

The two officials further explored the potential for enhancing collaboration in areas such as infrastructure and digital transformation, and announced the signing of an intergovernmental G2G agreement regarding infrastructure, alongside plans for constructing a data center.
