The Montenegrin women’s handball team is set to compete in the first phase of the World Championship in Trier. Among their opponents will be the Faroe Islands, and should they progress, they will continue the tournament in Dortmund.

Further details will emerge on Tuesday after the draw in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands, where the “lionesses” will be positioned in the top pot.

The World Handball Federation (IHF) has officially confirmed the teams, placing the “lionesses” in a favorable position following their victory over Portugal in the April play-off, as announced by the Handball Federation of Montenegro.

The Faroe Islands will be drawn from the third pot, with the remaining two opponents for Suzana Lazović’s team being determined in the draw.

This draw will establish the eight groups of four teams each, with the top three from each group advancing to the main round of the World Cup.

Scheduled from November 26 to December 14, the World Championship will mark the 18th major event for Montenegro since regaining independence.

In addition to Trier and Dortmund, the tournament will also take place in Stuttgart, ‘s-Hertogenbosch, and Rotterdam. The renowned Dutch port city will host the knockout stages, including the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final, as well as Dortmund’s quarterfinals.
