The SC Derby basketball team faced a defeat against Dubai tonight with a score of 98:86 in the 22nd round of the AdmiralBet ABA League.

SC Derby’s loss was not unexpected, marking their 15th defeat of the season compared to seven wins. Meanwhile, Dubai continues to aim for an improved playoff position, now holding a record of 17-5 after this victory.

The SC Derby squad played without the injured Igor Drobnjak, while Luka Bogavac made his return wearing a protective mask following a nose injury sustained during the European Championship qualifiers against Germany.

SC Derby had the upper hand early on, leading by as much as six points on two occasions in the first quarter – first at 12:6 with points from Zoran Nikolić and then at 19:13 with a three-pointer from Erik Neal.

However, following that three-pointer, Dubai unleashed an 11-0 run, taking a 24:19 lead as the second quarter began. At that point, Dubai was scoring easily on transition plays, and after a basket by Danilo Andjušić, the home team established an 11-point lead at 36:25.

SC Derby attempted a comeback with five consecutive points (36:30), but Jurica Golemac’s team maintained the pressure, leading by 11 at several intervals before halftime.

In the third quarter, Dubai surged ahead with an 8:0 run to lead 58:42, later extending their advantage to 66:48 after a three-pointer from Bertans. The quarter closed with Petar Mijović’s team narrowing the gap to single digits at 69:62.

Unfortunately for SC Derby, they couldn’t close the gap further and Dubai regained a double-digit lead, eventually stretching it to 21 points (92:71) at the peak of their performance.

SC Derby’s top scorers included Nil and Grbović, each contributing 15 points, with Nil also adding 10 assists. Mirković recorded 14 points and eight rebounds, while Nikolić netted 13 points.

The standout player from the winning side was Andjušić with 22 points.

Looking ahead, SC Derby will face Mornar in their next game.
