The Buducnost Voli basketball team is currently enjoying a strong performance in the AdmiralBet ABA League, coupled with a successful record against their upcoming opponent.

Andrej Žakelj’s squad is set to take on Mega (Sunday at noon), a team they have outperformed in their last eight encounters in New Belgrade, aiming for their 13th consecutive win in the regional tournament.

The Blues are favored to win, a sentiment widely shared, though questions loom about how they will bounce back from their recent Eurocup elimination after a comfortable loss to Turk Telekom in the playoffs.

While the outlook in Ankara was not promising, they must shift their focus for the game against Mega, who can never be underestimated.

“It’s going to be a challenging match following our experience on Wednesday. We know Mega is a formidable opponent; they play a modern and aggressive style of basketball, and they are certainly gearing up for us,” remarked Žakelj.

The Montenegrin champions are in contention at the top of the ABA League standings, looking to maintain their position after the 22nd round.

“This away fixture is certainly not straightforward, and we must be focused and bring the right energy,” Žakelj stated.

Djordje Jovanovic is optimistic that Buducnost will respond positively after the defeat in Ankara (93:73).

“Following a challenging Eurocup loss, we face a demanding, youthful opponent with a distinctive style of play characterized by high tempo. We aim to recuperate while preparing for this crucial away game. Achieving our maximum performance is essential to continue our winning streak,” the national player commented.

Earlier this season, Buducnost triumphed over Mega with a score of 77:69, highlighted by a stellar final quarter. Jovanovic played a key role, contributing 11 points, nine rebounds, and hitting three out of five three-pointers.
