The 26th traditional Lim Regatta, covering the route from Plav to Prijepolje via Andrijevica, Berane, and Bijelo Polje, commenced on Friday and will conclude today at Petrovac beach in Prijepolje.

According to Dragoljub Simović, one of the event’s organizers, around ten boats from rafting teams spanning Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, and Poland are participating this year.

The inaugural stage began on Friday, starting from Plav to Andrijevica, followed by moving participants and equipment to Berane overnight in a camp. Today marks the final leg from Bijelo Polje to Prijepolje.

Saturday featured the most challenging stretch, the Berane to Bijelo Polje route, which included navigating through Mali and Veliki Tifrani, culminating with a camping experience and social gathering at Putnik restaurant in Konatari.

Today’s final stage commenced at Kumanica, traversing the Kumanica and Sopotnica gorges, and will conclude at Petrovac city beach in Prijepolje, where an elaborate cultural and artistic program has been organized, followed by the event’s closing ceremony.

Simović noted that there were initial concerns about possibly canceling the event due to organizational challenges and lack of support, but fortunately, this year’s collaboration with local tourist organizations greatly exceeded expectations, proving them to be outstanding hosts.

“The cooperation has been exceptional this year, especially with the Berane Tourist Office, where we camped. The experiences have been incredible, and Nature has been beautiful today,” remarked Simović, recalling that on the regatta’s first day, the water temperature in the Lim River was two degrees warmer than the air (8 degrees), unlike today’s much warmer conditions.

Participants highlighted that rafting transcends mere appreciation of nature; it fosters unforgettable connections among individuals involved.

Simović emphasized that this regatta is among the most important and longest-running events of its kind in the region, acting as an introduction to the holiday season.
