“Promoting Transparency and Inclusivity: Our Vision for Revitalizing the Club’s Image”
Shortly after his election as the new president of Budućnost, Boško Kovačević found himself confronting a significant “mess.”
The Podgorica team was denied entry in the first round of the licensing process for European competitions due to a tax debt of 171 thousand euros. Additionally, the Special State Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the whereabouts of funds from millions in player transfers. Meanwhile, executive director Novak Novaković has, as determined, appointed sports director Dejan Damjanović outside of his jurisdiction.
These challenges are among the many that Kovačević and the newly elected club management must address.
“On one hand, we inherited a club with remarkable achievements from a sporting perspective – a new champion who secured the title by a significant margin, shattering multiple records, all while promoting players from its own youth academy, which is the true asset of this club. This is a principle we have stood by and will continue to advocate,” remarked Kovačević.
On the other hand, there is clear administrative chaos.
“Failing to obtain a European license would be a serious setback and an obstacle. Therefore, it is our absolute priority to resolve this matter in the appeal process and secure our right to participate in European competitions.”
Kovačević expresses his desire for an open and transparent club…
“One that fosters cooperation with all sectors and football stakeholders—fans, the Football Association, and all citizens, without any divisions. Budućnost is the football emblem of Montenegro, and we aim to restore its esteemed image. One of our key priorities will be to draw people back to the stadium by promoting renowned personalities and club legends. Budućnost truly deserves this,” Kovačević emphasized.
