Yesterday’s draw for the World Championship in ‘s-Hertogenbosch has favored the Montenegrin handball team, who must acknowledge their success despite any reservations.
The “Lionesses” are set to compete in Group D alongside Spain, the Faroe Islands, and Paraguay during the tournament scheduled from November 26 to December 14 in the Netherlands and Germany, with aspirations to secure one of the top three positions for progression to the main round.
The path to advancement should be reasonably assured…
“We can take pride in the results from the draw. While we mustn’t underestimate any opponent, it seems that for the first time, we have a slightly more favorable group in the World Championships. Spain has refreshed its team, but remains formidable. The Faroe Islands and Paraguay present unique challenges, yet we must approach these matches with utmost seriousness,” stated Đurđina Jauković.
Montenegro would then continue to the main round in Dortmund, facing teams from Group C, which includes Germany, Serbia, Iceland, and Uruguay.
“Our objective should be to enter the main round with the highest possible points, after which we will face a significant challenge in a group that includes the host nation, Germany, among others. I believe we can compete against all our opponents. We often emphasize that having a complete squad and ensuring all players are healthy at the start of the World Cup is paramount. Then, anything can happen,” adds Jauković.
