Montenegro Establishes Embassy in Copenhagen
The Montenegro Embassy in the Kingdom of Denmark officially opened in Copenhagen earlier today.
During the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimović emphasized that the establishment of the Montenegrin Embassy in Copenhagen marks a vital advancement in our diplomatic outreach and serves as a catalyst for enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations.
Today is significant and leaves an indelible mark in our diplomatic journey; for the first time, we have a permanent representation in Denmark and a diplomatic presence in this region of Europe, Ibrahimović remarked, noting that the foundation of the relationship between our two countries rests on mutual values of peace, democracy, human rights, and collaboration.
He underscored the importance of the diaspora, acting as a bridge of friendship that fortifies connections between the two peoples. Additionally, he highlighted the relevance of opening the diplomatic office in Denmark in light of Montenegro’s European aspirations, particularly as Denmark is set to assume the presidency of the EU Council in the latter half of 2025.
This represents a moment of both symbolism and strategy. The support from our partners will be essential in our quest to join the EU by 2028.
He expressed gratitude to his Danish counterpart for participating in today’s events.
This serves as another affirmation of our mutual dedication to collaboration and endorses Montenegro’s European trajectory.
Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen remarked that the inauguration of the Montenegrin Embassy in Copenhagen is of great significance for further strengthening relations and enhancing cooperation. He also reaffirmed Denmark’s robust support for Montenegro’s European ambitions.
You can rely on Denmark’s unwavering support in the upcoming period. While the aspiration of EU membership by 2028 is ambitious, it is attainable with your demonstrated commitment to reforms. The establishment of Montenegro’s representative office in Copenhagen will play a crucial role in deepening our engagement and collaboration across all areas of mutual interest, stated Rasmussen.
