Primorac Loses First Place to the Greeks; They Face Ortiđa for a Shot at the Round of 16
Although Primorac failed to capitalize on their first match point to secure a spot in the knockout stage of the Eurocup, they remain close to advancing.
The Kotor water polo team faced a defeat against Panionios (8:5), resulting in them surrendering first place to the Greek squad, marking their second loss in this season’s group stage.
As they head into the final round on December 9, Primorac has accumulated nine points, trailing leader Panionios by two points and leading Ortiđa by three, who lost to Trieste at home in the 5th round (14:11).
To secure a position in the top 16, Zoran Maslovar’s team must avoid losing to Ortiđa by more than four goals at the “Zoran-Džimi Gopčević” pool, having recently triumphed over the same opponent in Sicily with a score of 14:9.
In tonight’s match, Primorac started strong in the first ten minutes, but the momentum shifted in favor of the hosts, who concluded the third quarter with a five-goal lead at 8:3.
Nikola Marković scored two goals for Primorac, while Marko Gopčević, Marko Mršić, and Tim Perov each contributed one goal.
For Panionios, Nikola Moskov managed to score one goal, while Aleksa Ukropina did not register on the scoresheet.
