“Jovetić’s Brilliant Assist Can’t Save Omonia: Season Ends Without a Trophy – VIDEO”

The inaugural year in Cyprus brought an abundance of matches, impressive plays, and goals for Montenegrin captain Stevan Jovetić, but ultimately no trophy.
The last opportunity for Omonia to secure a cup this season slipped away in the semi-finals, where AEK Larnaca bested the Nicosia club.
The “Green and White” had reason to lament, as after a 0-0 draw at home, they had a player advantage from the ninth minute in the return leg but still failed to secure their place in the final.
Despite this, they lost 2:1, with Omonia’s sole goal resulting from a brilliant play by Jovetić—who, while AEK led 1:0, skillfully exploited the defense, setting up Loizos Loizu for the equalizer.
“A magical assist, an incredible pass,” praised Cypriot outlet “Sport Time”.
Omonia, featuring another Montenegrin player, Novica Eraković, until the 66th minute, pushed until the end but could not overcome AEK, meaning Larnaca will face the new champions, Paphos, in the final.
Jovetić joined Omonia at the end of September on a two-year deal, contributing in 25 matches this season with five goals to his name.
Currently, the Nicosia club sits in fourth place with two rounds remaining, just one point short of qualifying for European competition, and they also participated in the Conference League, reaching the round of 32.
The captain’s consistent performance is certainly encouraging for the “Falcons” coach Robert Prosinecki as the national team prepares for the crucial World Cup qualifier against the Czech Republic in Plzen this June.
