The Concern That Arises When Someone is Preparing for War
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić remarked, following discussions with Milorad Dodik, the President of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian entity Republika Srpska, that “when there are indications of preparations for war, it is only natural to feel apprehensive,” as reported by Radio Television of Serbia (RTS).
“During my last visit to Banja Luka, I urged Milorad Dodik and the Republika Srpska leadership to invite the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s leadership for dialogue, but we were met with a storm of insults instead,” Vučić stated at a press conference alongside Dodik in Belgrade.
Vučić noted that amid global upheaval, it is evident that Europe will attempt to distance itself from the United States and will strongly oppose Russia, necessitating a demonstration of strength and resolve.
“In Sarajevo, they aim to exploit this situation to lead Europe into irrational actions. Clearly, there have been past attempts to weaken Serbia, preventing it from supporting the Serbian populace in BiH. We respect Bosnia and Herzegovina’s sovereignty, but we also acknowledge the stipulations of the Dayton Agreement. Serbia advocates for peace and will continually encourage dialogue, striving to maintain stability at nearly all costs,” Vučić emphasized.
The Serbian President mentioned that he plans to converse with the President of Russia tomorrow.
“I am scheduled to speak with Vladimir Putin at noon tomorrow, where we’ll cover various topics, including gas, the Serbian Oil Industry, and our political relations. I will also communicate a message from Milorad Dodik to him. Additionally, I will connect with some European leaders, although I waited a day and a half for a disappointing statement that simply condemned the violence, equating incidents in the Serbian Parliament with supposed aggression against non-governmental organizations. What violence are they referring to? No arrests or prosecutions have occurred; the Prosecutor’s Office merely instructed the police to gather information on their finances. This reflects hypocrisy and reveals who backs the illicit funds supporting color revolutions,” Vučić commented.
Addressing today’s occurrences outside the Belgrade City Assembly, Vučić stated that organizers of such events are left with only violence.
“Today’s aggression in front of the City Assembly, particularly against ‘Informer’ journalist Branka Lazić, exemplifies this. Therefore, I have decided to honor Branka Lazić with the Vidovdan award for her courage as a journalist,” Vučić asserted.
The Serbian President reiterated that the treatment Dodik is receiving is unprecedented in any country.
“This behavior aligns with European norms. I anticipate discussions with senior American officials soon, and we will see how that unfolds,” Vučić declared.
Dodik: Our policy is to return to the Dayton Agreement
Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik reiterated his call for Bosniaks to engage in dialogue regarding the future of BiH, asserting that Republika Srpska supports BiH only in line with the Dayton Peace Agreement, which he claims the Bosniaks do not want. Instead, they desire a BiH that supersedes Republika Srpska.
After his conversation with Vučić, Dodik informed him that Bosniaks from Sarajevo are seeking war in BiH.
“This conflict is driven by their longstanding attempts to ‘resolve matters,’ aiming to eliminate every Serb who does not align with their political agenda and Republika Srpska,” Dodik stated, noting that the Bosniaks did not embrace the Dayton Agreement, contrary to Republika Srpska.
Dodik emphasized that the aim of the Bosniaks is to deal a severe blow to Republika Srpska.
He also pointed out that the Bosniaks have consistently refused to delineate the inter-entity border, despite Republika Srpska’s insistence.
“Our goal remains dialogue, which they have disregarded, and the current events in BiH are politically motivated,” said the RS president.
Dodik revealed he received a summons from the BiH Prosecutor’s Office to report tomorrow at 11 a.m. due to allegations that “the constitutional order in BiH has been compromised.”
“For those unfamiliar, it is essential to recognize that, in this case, the president’s authority is the only constitutional aspect in question since the Constitution does not recognize the Prosecutor’s Office and the Court of BiH, which were imposed by the High Representative,” Dodik noted.
He added that Republika Srpska’s Prime Minister Radovan Višković and National Assembly President Nenad Stevandić, along with other ministers as witnesses, received the same summons.
“We will not cooperate on that front. Non-institutional entities cannot operate within the territory of Republika Srpska, and we again call on the Bosniaks for dialogue,” Dodik stated, insisting that Sarajevo’s ultimate objective is the appropriation of property and resources essential for state formation.
“I call on all Serbs in Bosnia and Herzegovina to remain stable”
“We will persist in our political advocacy, continuing to urge dialogue. I call upon all Serbs in BiH to maintain composure and avoid any forms of violence, including verbal altercations. I also urge Bosniaks to exercise calm and stability, as we are not the aggressors; we seek a return to the Dayton Agreement. Zukan Helez and Ramo Isak’s calls for war, coupled with their distorted rhetoric, are detached from reality,” Dodik remarked.
He asserted that if anyone possesses a legitimate right to intervene in BiH, it is Serbia, as it is a signatory of the Dayton Agreement, while Sarajevo attempts to foster a conflictual environment.
“Our message to President Vučić is that we wish to address and discuss these issues openly; however, should the persecution continue, we will resort to all available political means,” Dodik concluded.
He emphasized that the international factor has largely undermined the Dayton Agreement, particularly criticizing Biden’s policies.
“However, that approach has faltered because they cannot transform BiH into a standardized state or compel us (Serbs) to assimilate into Bosniak identity,” Dodik finished.
