If DPS is reformed, then instead of remaining silent, they should welcome Golubović’s arrest

If DPS undergoes reform, they should embrace Golubović’s arrest instead of staying silent.

The Europe Now movement has expressed approval regarding the arrest of Duško Golubović, a long-standing agent of the National Security Agency (ANB) and former employee of the Police Administration.

The party has voiced its full support for the Special State Prosecutor’s Office and its team in their ongoing efforts to apprehend suspects involved in organized crime and corruption, particularly those who have held significant positions.

“Following revelations that security services, under the previous regime, facilitated Veljko Belivuk’s entrance into Montenegro, we are now presented with another chance to evaluate the supposed ‘reformation’ of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS). If the DPS is genuinely new, distinct, and reformed, they should not remain silent but should openly praise the arrest of Duško Golubović, a former high-ranking operative of the National Security Agency, who remained untouchable for years due to political backing,” the statement reads.

The PES highlights that it is evident today that leaders and officials from the security sector during the DPS administration—individuals who were meant to uphold the law—actually served as pivotal figures within the organized crime network.

“Notorious criminals entered Montenegro without obstruction as they all aimed to sustain the regime of the time. This raises a straightforward question: does the DPS today endorse investigations against its former enforcers? Are they willing to condemn Belivuk, Golubović, and Lazović? Or are they remaining silent because they continue to shield those who possess too much information?” PES stated.

They further assert that the party’s commitment to the pursuit of justice remains unwavering.

“We extend our complete support to the relevant institutions in prosecuting all who have breached the law, regardless of their rank in the governmental hierarchy. The fight against organized crime allows for no compromises. The silence of the DPS is not reform; it is merely a continuation,” the announcement concluded.
