The Meridianbet Student League of Montenegro in basketball has kicked off, with this edition featuring 12 teams split into two groups.

Competing for the four playoff spots in Group A are the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Mediterranean University, Faculty of Sports and Physical Education, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Civil Engineering, and Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology. Meanwhile, Group B consists of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Donja Gorica, Faculty of Biotechnical Engineering, Student Dormitory Nikšić, Faculty of Law, and Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

The title is being defended by the Faculty of Science, which successfully retained its championship after defeating Mediterranean University (20:12) with standout performances from Đorđi Tatar (52) and Maraš (41), supported by Prelević (14) and Nikolić (11) who also scored in double figures.

In the opening round, the Faculty of Civil Engineering secured the most convincing victory, winning by a 39-point margin (59:20) against the Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology. Key players for the “Civil Engineering” team included Rakočević (19) and Jovović (12), while Vušović scored 11 points for the losing side.

In a first-round derby, the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education claimed victory over their long-standing rivals, the Faculty of Economics (69:63), led by the unstoppable Srdja Bulatović (27), a player from the Abaliga team Mornar, and Kovačević (13). Rašović (31) was the standout for the losing team.

In Group B, last year’s finalist, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, established their dominance against the Faculty of Biotechnical Engineering (60:44) by building a 15-point lead by halftime (30:15), maintaining control throughout the match. Knežević (15), Đukić (15), and Jokić (12) contributed with double-digit points for the winners, while Popović (16) and Rakčević (11) shined for the losing team.

The University of Donja Gorica achieved a convincing win, led by Dejan Banović (12) and Vučević (11), defeating the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (57:35), whose top scorer was Minić (10). A late-game surge helped the Student Dormitory Nikšić overcome the Faculty of Law (38:28), with Ćetković leading the way with 14 points, while Nenad Madžgalj scored 13 points for the “lawyers.”
