Today, the cornerstone for the luxurious Porta Rai Beachfront Hotel & Residences was officially laid at the former “Lido” hotel site on Velika Plaza in Ulcinj.

This investment comes from a collaboration between the international firms Karisma Hotels & Resorts and Dobrov & Family Group.

The cornerstone was placed by Ljubiša Krstajić, co-owner of Karisma Hotels & Resorts, Andrej Dobrov, founder of Dobrov & Family Group, and Rafael Feliz, a partner at Karisma Hotels & Resorts.

“Today’s groundbreaking ceremony signifies the start of one of the most important tourism investments along the Adriatic coast. The Porta Rai Beachfront Hotel & Residences will enhance Montenegro’s standing on the global tourism map, generating 800 new jobs predominantly for local residents, with an estimated total economic impact of 278 million euros,” stated Karisma Hotels & Resorts.

The event commenced with a performance by students from the School for Primary Music and Ballet Education in Ulcinj, conducted by Professor Gzim Đekaj. Krstajić and Dobrov also addressed a gathering of distinguished guests from the economic, political, and public sectors.

“The laying of the foundation stone represents the dawn of a new era in Ulcinj’s growth,” the statement emphasizes.

According to the announcement, the first phase of construction will focus on developing part of the hotel facilities, residential units, and the necessary infrastructure, with complete project completion anticipated by the end of 2029.

“The Porta Rai complex will be a first-of-its-kind in Montenegro, boasting a five-star rating, seven swimming pools, sports fields, a spa, dining options, amenities for children, and an exclusive shopping area,” the statement adds.

Karisma has been active in Ulcinj for eight years, having assumed control of the “Belvi” and “Olimpik” hotels on Velika Plaza under a thirty-year lease from HTP “Ulcinjska rivijera”. This included operations within the “Holiday Village Montenegro” and “Azul Beach Resort Montenegro” complexes.
