The season for Primorje started off brilliantly, but in just nine days, it took a dramatic turn.
Following their loss to Jadran in the Montenegrin Cup final last Thursday in Podgorica, the Kotor team faced another setback in a vital match for advancing to the Eurocup’s round of 16, despite seemingly having everything under control…
The Montenegrin team suffered a notable defeat against Ortiđa at the “Zoran-Džimi Gopčević” pool (18:12), where a four-goal margin was enough to secure a spot in the top 16.
Unexpectedly, Primorac didn’t qualify as their defensive performance was lacking—conceding 13 goals in just 19 minutes, ultimately allowing 18 goals by the end.
While defensive issues plagued Zoran Maslovar’s squad, the attack also failed to make an impact, resulting in a heavy loss and disappointment at the mid-season review, as many had expected Primorac to reach the knockout stage of this second-tier European competition…
Initially, Primorac took the lead with Nemanja Vico scoring just 35 seconds in, but the Italian team gradually asserted their dominance, having previously lost 14:9 to Kotor in their first encounter of the season in Sicily.
Japanese player Yusuke Inaba stood out with six goals, supported by the experienced veteran Stefano Tempesti in goal. By the middle of the third period, it was evident that Primorac was facing elimination.
Marko Gopčević scored four goals for Primorac, while Marko Mršić netted three, and both Vico and Balša Vučković contributed two each, with Vučković making a strong impression…
As a result, Primorac exited the Eurocup, leaving Jadran to represent Montenegro after their own exit from the Champions League.
