We’re Unconcerned About the Outcome of the Derby at Poljud
Rijeka’s head coach, Radomir Đalović, mentioned that his team isn’t overly focused on the outcome of the upcoming derby between Hajduk and Dinamo, scheduled for Saturday at Poljud, just one day before Rijeka’s own match against Gorica at Rujevica (Sunday, 18:15 PM).
With only four rounds remaining in the HNL, Rijeka is currently leading the table with 56 points, tied with Split, while Dinamo follows closely with one point less.
“We have no concern about how the Split derby will turn out. Regardless of the result, we won’t be in the top position when we take the field on Sunday, so we don’t have that win-or-else pressure,” Đalović stated.
He also addressed the team’s mentality, which has been tested numerous times this season.
“These players have consistently shown that they can manage pressure, whether it’s against Dinamo, Hajduk, or in the Cup. They are in a good position to perform at their best, free from any added burden. The fans have supported them through both victories and defeats, and recently, the president rewarded them with double bonuses for their accomplishments,” Đalović emphasized.
Are there any concerns regarding Rijeka before such a crucial match?
“Fruk and Oreč are suspended due to three yellow cards. Škorić remains sidelined, Radeljić’s status is uncertain, Butić is gradually returning, and two more players picked up injuries on Thursday,” concluded the former Montenegrin national team player and Rijeka goal scorer.
