Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić reported having a “good,” “substantive,” and “excellent” conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding bilateral cooperation, as noted by the Beta news agency.
In his remarks on Instagram, Vučić highlighted “extremely important issues for Serbia,” mentioning the need for a new gas agreement before May 31 and the resolution of concerns regarding the Serbian Petroleum Industry, which faces potential US sanctions.
He expressed that he had informed Putin about the public’s worries in Serbia regarding the attempted color revolution and thanked him for not endorsing such efforts from Russian officials.
“He had a clear viewpoint, understands what is occurring, and will continue to support the legitimate and legally elected bodies in Serbia,” Vučić stated.
They also addressed regional circumstances during their call, with Vučić relaying a message from Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik to Putin.
Vučić remarked that Putin “has a firm grasp on the regional dynamics, observes the actions of the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and recognizes that these moves aim solely to undermine Milorad Dodik.”
He added that “the Russian Federation has consistently backed both the Dayton Peace Agreement and Republika Srpska.”
Vučić highlighted the significance of his forthcoming visit to Moscow on May 9 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism, where he will “proudly represent Serbia on Red Square.”
He mentioned that he and Putin also discussed ways to enhance trade relations and boost economic cooperation.
