Midway through the season, Primorac has parted ways with coach Zoran Maslovar, ending his tenure as head coach of the Kotor water polo team.
According to an announcement on Primorac’s social media, Maslovar resigned for personal reasons but will continue to be involved with the club.
“Maslovar will remain with Primorac in the role of coordinator for the younger categories. We appreciate his contributions to the first team,” stated the club from Kotor.
Maslovar took over as Primorac’s head coach at the start of the season, succeeding Ranko Perović. The original plan was for him to stay until Petar Porobić’s return, at which point they would work together as co-coaches.
Sadly, due to the unexpected passing of our legendary coach, that collaboration never came to fruition. Maslovar continued to lead the team alone until the conclusion of the first half of the season.
A respected figure in water polo, Maslovar began his time at Primorac on a positive note; however, his tenure took a turn in December with a significant defeat against Jadran in the Montenegrin Cup final, followed by a loss at home against Ortiđa in a crucial Eurocup match.
Primorac is now on the hunt for a new coach. The club’s management has the advantage of time to make a well-informed decision, as the team will not compete again until the end of February due to upcoming European (January 4 – 16) and World Championships (February 5 – 17).
