New Park Opens in Podgorica’s Zabjelo Neighborhood
A new park was inaugurated today in Podgorica, located directly next to the “Oktoih” Elementary School in Zabjelo. The total cost for the development was approximately 500,000 euros.
The Capital City announced that the residents of this area, along with neighboring districts, now have a fresh space for recreation and community engagement.
Spanning an area of 8,300 square meters, the park was officially opened by Mayor Saša Mujović, who expressed his delight that this part of the city now boasts a beautiful and representative space for residents to enjoy.
“Today, we celebrate the opening of the park in Zabjelo, and I believe this serves as one of the most wonderful gifts we could offer to the citizens on the eve of Independence Day. This expansive area is equipped with diverse amenities and will surely become a paradise for children, and I anticipate that the park will garner much popularity given the local population,” stated Mujović.
He also expressed gratitude to the previous city administration for initiating the project last year.
“We have continued this endeavor and invested significant effort to ensure the park’s completion and to present it to the citizens today, just before Independence Day. We aspire for children to especially enjoy the facilities here, including the volleyball and basketball courts that may produce new talents for the Montenegrin national team. I am confident that this park will be a tremendous success and a significant asset for the city,” Mujović added.
The capital city highlighted in a statement that construction commenced last October, primarily executed by the city’s company “Zelenilo,” which developed the conceptual design and project.
“The area is completely enclosed, equipped with new LED lighting, recreational equipment, and basketball and volleyball courts. Furthermore, there are walking paths with canopies and a children’s playground, complete with urban furnishings, and the area has been enhanced with various plant species. Besides ‘Zelenilo’, the Housing and Communal Services Agency contributed to the work, with the overall cost estimated at around 500,000 euros,” the statement elaborated.
