“Over Four Days, 113 Drivers Arrested—64 for Drug-Impaired Driving”

In the last four days, law enforcement has apprehended 113 drivers, with 64 of those arrests attributed to driving under the influence of narcotics, as reported by the Police Directorate.
Additionally, during the May Day holidays and weekend, 72 traffic incidents were noted in Montenegro.
One fatality occurred in Bijelo Polje, alongside four severe and 24 minor injuries, according to the report.
Traffic officials issued a total of 2,133 misdemeanor citations, generated 241 reports, and temporarily seized 36 sets of license plates.
Out of the total arrests, 34 drivers were detained for alcohol-related offenses, 64 for drug-related issues, and 15 for other significant infractions under the Road Traffic Safety regulations.
The majority of arrests took place in Podgorica (25), followed by Bar (14), Ulcinj (13), Kotor (12), and Pljevlja (10).
As part of the “May – Road Safety Month” initiative, traffic police intensified checks during the May Day holidays, focusing on motorcyclists and younger drivers.
A total of 728 motorcycles and their riders were assessed, resulting in 264 misdemeanor tickets and 45 reports.
Furthermore, 148 motorcyclists and 37 motorcycles were removed from the roads, with seven arrests made and 21 sets of license plates temporarily confiscated.
