Primorac Claims Top Spot, Jadran Takes Second, and Budva Rounds Out the Top Three

The water polo team from Primorje claimed victory at the international competition for younger categories known as Olympic Hopes.

This event is organized by clubs from Montenegro and Dubrovnik-Neretva County, aiming to enhance the quality of water polo while fostering connections among participants.

In the recent tournament held in Herceg Novi, featuring players born in 2006 and later, Primorac secured third place, allowing them to maintain their lead in the overall rankings.

Kataro finished in the second spot after losing to Jug 17:15 in the final match, which was decided after five rounds.

Throughout the group stages, Kotor’s young athletes triumphed over Mornar with a score of 13:6 and Aquatic Verde 21:10, while facing a loss against the top team Jadran from Herceg Novi at 16:5, thereby qualifying for the semi-finals as runners-up.

In the semifinal, they overcame their city rival Primorac with a score of 10:8, after five rounds.

Primorac clinched third place by defeating Jadran 13:9.

Despite a strong performance in the group stage, Jadran was narrowly defeated by Jug 15:14 in the semi-finals, which was also decided by a five-point margin.

At the tournament in Herceg Novi, Budućnost placed sixth, Aquatic Verde seventh, and the other team from Jadran took the eighth spot.

Balša Vučković from Primorje was awarded the title of best player, while Andrija Bjelica from Qatar was recognized as the best goalkeeper, and Vlaho Pavlić from Jug emerged as the top scorer.

The international event followed a tournament structure for hopefuls, junior cadets, cadets, junior juniors, and juniors.

In the overall standings, Primorac was the most successful club with 16 points, followed by Jadran from Herceg Novi with 13 points and Budva with 10 points.
