Hansi Flick aimed to give his key players a break before the second leg of the Champions League semi-final against Inter. However, circumstances forced Rafinha and Lamin Jamal to step up and turn the tide…
Barcelona secured another crucial three points in La Liga, achieving a comeback victory against last-placed Valladolid (2:1) in the 34th round. With a game in hand, they now lead Real by seven points.
The two most prominent Spanish clubs are set to face off in the upcoming round at Montjuic, while Carlo Ancelotti’s squad needs to overcome Celta first—tomorrow at 14:00.
Valladolid took an early lead in the 6th minute at “Zorilja” when Ivan Sanchez found the net against a returning Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
At half-time, Flick introduced Jamal, followed shortly by Rafinha and Frenkie de Jong at the start of the second half.
A vital victory was secured by Gerard Martin and Fermin Lopes: the first with a superb assist and the latter with an impressive shot from the edge of the penalty area.
Barcelona is already shifting its focus to Inter for the rematch after the intense 3:3 encounter at “Montjuic” and, of course, the significant derby against Real.
